A celebrant Officiates at wedding, vow renewal and naming day ceremonies

Unlike traditional clergy members such as priests, ministers, or rabbis who may be affiliated with a specific religious institution, celebrants are usually non-religious or interfaith people who specialise in creating personalised, bespoke, and meaningful ceremonies for couples.

I work closely with you to create a ceremony that reflects your personalities, values, beliefs, and preferences. This may involve incorporating traditions, readings, music, and rituals that are meaningful to you.

Unlike religious ceremonies which often have set formats and requirements, celebrant-led ceremonies offer more flexibility in terms of location, content, length, and structure. You can choose to have your ceremony anywhere, whether it’s a beach, a forest, a cinema, or a traditional wedding venue.

I am inclusive and welcoming to couples of all backgrounds, orientations, and beliefs. I can accommodate various cultural and religious traditions, as well as non-traditional elements, to ensure that the ceremony truly represents what you want.

For weddings, the legal bit needs to be done at a register office and can be done anytime before or after the wedding ceremony. Check your local borough for details and don’t be dragged down the rabbit hole, as they will make you think you HAVE to book everything through them, when you really don’t! This is something I can help you investigate, so don’t worry.

I am adept at public speaking and I will guide you and your guests through the ceremony. I will manage the flow of the ceremony, cueing readings, music, and other elements as needed, and don’t worry, we can have a practise run before-hand.

The wedding process:

So, from the moment you say ‘yes’ (or even years before, it’s good to dream), to walking down the aisle as a married person, this is how it will all come together with me as your celebrant:

1. You find my website and think yes, I’d like to chat and see if Becky is free on my wedding date.

2. You can drop me a line at hello@cornerstonecelebrant.co.uk or DM me on Insta @cornerstonecelebrant

3. I’m free on the date, so we set up a time for a video call so we can have a chat.

4. You decide, yes Becky is the celebrant for us, and I send you a booking form to complete as well as an invoice for 50% of the fee.

5. I send you a questionnaire for each of you to fill in separately and from this I will start to write your story.

6. We have another video call or meet in person so I can read your draft ceremony to you and make tweaks.

7. Six weeks or so before the ceremony I send an invoice for the remaining 50% (and any extra travel costs) and we chat about any final amendments you might like to make.

8. It’s almost time for the big day so I’m available if you need me, and if time/location allows we can have a rehearsal the day before.
